SUMMARY:Jauron Perry
DESCRIPTION:Showtimes are at 7:30p & 9:30p for this performance. Doors open at 5pm for dinner. Seating begins at 6pm for “Dinner & a Show”. The second show starts seating at 9pm.\nJauron Perry\, is a rising Detroit-Native Jazz Trumpeter\, Composer\, and Bandleader\, now a second-year undergraduate studying jazz performance at Michigan State University’s College of Music. Selected as the Next Generation of Talent award recipient\, Jauron has quickly gained much experience performing and working with Detroit jazz masters such as Rodney Whitaker\, Dwight Adams\, James Carter\, Vincent Chandler\, Kris Johnson\, Diego Rivera\, Sean Dobbins\, Wendell Harrison\, Marion Hayden\, Ralphe Armstrong\, and Regina Carter\, to name a few. Other sensations outside of his hometown include Etienne Charles\, Marquis Hill\, Wynton Marsalis\, Marcus Printup\, Camille Thurman\, Dee Dee Bridgewater\, Walter Blanding\, Carmen Bradford\, Joe Farnsworth\, Jerome Jennings\, Tim Warfield\, Helen Sung\, and Jeff Hamilton. Jauron also continues to be featured in popular events such as the Detroit Jazz Festival\, Michigan Jazz Festival\, African World Festival\, East Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Festival\, and as of recent\, the Jack Rudin Jazz Championship at Jazz at Lincoln Center where he performed with MSU’s Jazz Orchestra 1 (The Bebop Spartans) placing in the top 3 of the collegiate ensembles. \nFrom all of his time absorbing the Detroit scene since age 12\, Jauron developed a reputation for being vastly knowledgeable\, passionate\, and mature about his craft for his age. He has been said\,\naccording to Kris Johnson\, to be a “natural leader who searches for new ways to make personal connections with the music”. Having graduated from the acclaimed Detroit School of Arts High School\, known for producing popular artists such as Aaliyah\, and vibrant bassist Endea Owens\, a strong foundation and seriousness was established for Jauron early on through receiving effective\nexposure and world-class mentorship. \nIn addition to his stage presence and study\, Jauron also conducts outreach as a youth mentor and advocate for young people across Michigan matriculating into the arts and entertainment industry upholding the “each one teach one” tradition instilled in him over the years. \nHe is always constructing his own original compositions and aspires to lead bands of varying styles and sizes from small group to big band and straight ahead jazz to funk\, fusion\, and\nexperimental music to perform across numerous venues around the country and internationally. \nJauron’s mission is to spread an undeniable message of unity\, diversity\, and awareness through his music\, honor the tradition by highlighting the great eras of jazz\, pay tribute to the legends and\nhis mentors\, and include relevant themes in his approach to music through the lens of today’s world. Within his essential mission\, Jauron will forever pay homage to his grandfather\, Gordon\nPerry\, in every endeavor because his grandfather is at the root of how it all began for the trumpeter. Gordon Perry is one of Jauron’s greatest inspirations and he dedicates his artistic\nidentity to him. Jauron vows to finish what his grandfather started.
