SUMMARY:Occidental Gypsy
DESCRIPTION: “…the musicians of Occidental Gypsy emerged as classicists\, above all celebrating the optimistic spirit that made Reinhardt-Grappelli an antidote to the tough times of pre-World War II Europe (and beyond)… the music-making – proved carefully considered and nimbly delivered.  – Howard Reich\, Chicago Tribune   \nThe band features Eli Bishop\, a Nashville prodigy who recently won 1st Place in the Mississippi Fiddle Championships\,  who stuns crowds regularly with his lightning-fast\, passionate violin.  Lead guitarist and composer Brett Feldman drives the sound with masterful gypsy swing guitar.  Jeremy Frantz — a protege of legendary jazz guitarist Joe Negri— brings his sultry\, “retro” vocals and expert jazz guitar to the front line\, and serves as an exquisite counterpoint to the down-and-dirty driving sound brought by Brett.  Percussionist Jon Chapman and bassist Jeff Feldman fill out the band’s rich sound and keep crowds moving with beats and complex rhythms that make their audience keep coming back for more. \nOccidental Gypsy’s sound is appealing to a wide spectrum of people\, and their shows consistently attract enthusiastic audiences at colleges\, arts centers\, festivals\, concert halls and clubs. Their fans include musicians who enjoy the sophisticated compositions and masterful play\, but most folks just come to enjoy the music and dance.  The band has found a unique beat and brings to every show a dynamic mix of original vocal and instrumental pieces– and a few memorable standards– in fun\, exhilarating performances.  Occidental Gypsy’s music cannot be easily classified; a bit of jazz\, a catchy strain of pop\, a seismic swing experience\, and “a whole lotta’ gypsified groove…” \n  \nhttp://www.occidentalgypsyband.com/

SUMMARY:Vox Vidorra
DESCRIPTION:WSG: Britney Stoney and ONEFREQ \n“…Collaborative and masterful song crafting… Vox Vidorra stands ready to conquer massive chunks of musical territory in Michigan and beyond.” –localspins.com \nLead by vocal phenom Molly Bouwsma Schultz\, the band combines rich\, Motown worthy vocals with an underbelly of indie rock\, soul\, and jazz provided by multi-instrumentalists Scott Schultz\, Ryan K Wilson\, and Theo Ndawillie II. \n\nThe songs are reminiscent of days-gone-by but are rooted in now\, exploring inequality\, race\, and religion\, all with a melodic sheen that allows access to the depth of the recordings. The instrumentation is deliberate and often times sparse\, highlighting Bouwsma Schultz’s electric mezzo-soprano\, but is also complex\, utilizing Ndawillie’s composing skills to employ lush string arrangements\, propelling the songs over a familiar backbone that hints at Marvin Gaye and Aretha Franklin. \nWritten in a collaborative process\, each member is essential to the band’s songwriting. With influences like Harry Nilsson\, Patrick Watson\, Radiohead\, and Ella Fitzgerald\, the band isn’t held to one sound\, but is held together by Bouwsma Schultz’s voice\, three-part harmony\, and a strong commitment to melody. \n\n  \nhttp://voxvidorra.com/
