Joining Hirakawa is a veteran bassist Eddie Brookshire\, who played alongside Elvin Jones\, Donald Byrd\, Rusty Bryant\, Johnny Lytle\, and Fathead Newman\, and Fenton Sparks\, a longtime drummer for Bill Cunliffe.  In the liner notes to the trio’s 2015 album “And Then There Were Three\,” jazz pianist Stephen Scott writes\, “Full of inventiveness and a sense of adventure\, creativeness and voracious angularity\, aggressiveness and jaggedness\, passion\, and swing.
