SUMMARY:JD Allen and Company
DESCRIPTION:Hailed by the New York Times as “a tenor saxophonist with an enigmatic\, elegant and hard-driving style\,” JD Allen is a bright rising light on today’s international jazz scene. His unique and compelling voice on the instrument – the result of a patient and painstaking confrontation with the fundamentals of the art – has recently earned Allen a blaze of critical attention signaling his ascension to the upper ranks of the contemporary jazz world. Originally from Detroit\, Allen’s apprenticeship\, anchored by his lengthy tenure with Betty Carter\, occurred largely in New York\, where he worked with legends Lester Bowie\, George Cables\, Ron Carter\, Louis Hayes\, Frank Foster Big Band\, Winard Harper\,Dave Douglas\, Cindy Blackman\, Butch Morris\, David Murray\, Wallace Roney\, Rufus Reid\, and Geri Allen.\n\nIn 2012 Allen began his association with Savant Records. The Matador and The Bull (2012)\, GRACE (2013) earned Allen consecutive Downbeat Critics Poll Award Winner for “TENOR SAXOPHONIST” and “COMPOSER” and equal critical acclaim. Bloom (2014) earned 4**** 1/2 stars from Downbeat \, his most recent recording is GRAFFITI (2015). \nhttp://www.jdallentenorsaxophonist.com/html/

SUMMARY:The Mountain Babies
DESCRIPTION:wsg: Riley Pinkerton\, Dave Morrison and Willa Rae \nhttps://mountainbabies.bandcamp.com/ \nAbout Riley: Riley Pinkerton is a singer-songwriter based in NYC. In January 2016 Pinkerton released her debut EP titled “Do You Have A Car\,” recorded at “Yes\, Master Studios” in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Brian Carroll of Folk/Americana music review site\, RedLineRoots.com\, described Pinkerton’s “Do You Have A Car” as “Beautiful in the simplicity of its execution\, but profound all the while in how she can make you feel so much with so little in a few guitar lines and a voice…” and “Moving\, poignant\, [and] ethereal…” Pinkerton has been touring throughout the continental U.S.\, often in support of New England folk singer-songwriter\, Ian Fitzgerald. When home\, Pinkerton continues writing and recording demos in anticipation of her debut full-length album. \n

SUMMARY:Blair Crimmins and the Hookers
DESCRIPTION:Best Songwriter 2013 ”Crimmins has never been more refined than on this year’s Sing-A-Longs CD. If he caters to any genre\, it’s one that’s entirely his own\, and that’s something a lot of guys with pens and guitars either don’t know how to do\, or don’t have the guts to do.” – Creative Loafing \nBlair Crimmins began his current music career in Atlanta\, Georgia\, with a determination to bring Ragtime and 1920’s style Dixieland Jazz to new audiences. What he created was a sound that is at once modern while being deeply rooted in the past. Now four years\, and five hundred shows later\, he has toured the Eastern United States playing large venues and has opened for national acts such as Mumford & Sons and Preservation Hall Jazz Band. A multi-instrumentalist and music academic\, Crimmins writes songs and arrangements for a classic New Orleans style horn section consisting of Trumpet\, Clarinet\, Trombone. His debut release “The Musical Stylings Of” became a college radio sensation on WRAS Atlanta making him the most requested band on the air. His last release and video “State Hotel” landed them a full feature in Creative Loafing Atlanta. In 2012 Crimmins showed his musical diversity by writing and recording the full score for the independent short film “Old Man Cabbage”. The following year\, Crimmins was the critics pick for Best Song Writer of 2013 in Creative Loafing’s Best of ATL issue. Blair Crimmins now continues touring this year to support his newest studio album entitled “Sing-a-longs”\, a break through record which showcases a band who have polished their signature sound from years of touring. \n  \n  \nhttp://www.blaircrimminsandthehookers.com/
