SUMMARY:The Kandinski Effect
DESCRIPTION:“Synesthesia is one hell of a ride that shows the strength and innovations left in jazz music and all the new styles of music created in the 21st century. A must hear experience…\n– Sound Colour Vibration \nConceived on Paris’s cosmopolitan jazz scene\, forged on the road in America\, and informed by international currents in electronic music\, The Kandinsky Effect is a jazz power trio for the 21st century. Now based in New York City and Paris\, the band makes its Cuneiform debut with Synesthesia\, a roller-coaster ride of an album marked by fierce grooves\, subtle electronic textures\, intricate metrical shifts\, and a commitment to empathic group interplay. \nFeaturing Warren Walker on saxophone and electronics\, bassist Gael Petrina\, and drummer Caleb Dolister\, The Kandinsky Effectexplores a distinctive swath of sonic territory\, inspired by similarly electronica-laced ensembles like Kneebody and Jaga Jazzist. With a long history as a cutting edge format\, the saxophone\, bass and drums trio is usually employed by horn players looking to explore harmonically unfettered improvisation. The Kandinsky Effect finds a different kind of freedom in the lack of a chordal instrument. \nwww.thekandinskyeffect.com

SUMMARY:The Ashlae Blume Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Ashlae Blume is a vocalist\, accordionist\, pianist and composer based out of New Orleans\, Louisiana. She has traveled the world singing\, playing and writing music\, and draws from a variety of cultures for creative and technical inspiration. In addition to jazz and black American music\, her rhythmic and harmonic sense has primarily been influenced by music from the Balkans\, the Near East\, Africa\, Brazil\, and Appalachia. \nMusical philosophy: “I think of music as movement through a series of sensory landscapes. Colors\, smells\, shapes\, wind\, light\, and shadow. If we treat life as a journey through time\, we can treat music as moving poetry to describe experience. We share and relive our adventures with others\, traveling together along the same path if only for a short while. Music is a fundamental human need\, an indescribable urge. Hopefully the force that unites us to seek music will help us in our search for mutual understanding and compassion.” \nhttps://soundcloud.com/ashleyblumemusic

SUMMARY:Hot Club of Detroit
DESCRIPTION:****A Listening Room Performance \nSeating is on a first come\, first serve basis. \n“This is a recording that can be listened to and enjoyed over and over again-I certainly intend to do so!”  ~Howard Alden \nFollowing up It’s About That Time\, Nighttown and the eponymous 2006 debut Hot Club of Detroit—Hot Club of\nDetroit expands its sonic and compositional horizons with Junction. Retaining its original lineup of reeds\, two\nguitars\, accordion\, upright bass and no drums\, this is the band’s fourth release for Mack Avenue Records. There\nare personnel changes\, however\, and for the first time\, the Hot Club of Detroit is joined (on three tracks) by a\nvocalist: French musician Cyrille Aimée\, a native of Django Reinhardt’s hometown and third-place winner of the\n2010 Thelonious Monk International Vocal Competition.\nJunction’s sound is at once vintage and boldly new\, rooted in the legacy of Django Reinhardt but also the\nsensibilities of Ornette Coleman\, Pat Metheny\, John Zorn and even the rock band Phish. Far from a traditional\ngypsy jazz ensemble\, Hot Club of Detroit (HCOD) proves itself a versatile modern jazz group\, with a unique\nacoustic-electric sound that surges past expectations and genre boundaries. \nhttp://www.hotclubofdetroit.com/
