SUMMARY:Allen Dennard Quartet
DESCRIPTION:There will be two separate seatings at 7:30 & 9:30 \n  \nAllen Dennard is a trumpeter\, composer and bandleader who was born and raised in the city of Detroit\, Michigan. Allen has made three appearances as a sideman in the Detroit Jazz Festival\, one being with the great saxophonist Wendell Harrison (2015)\, one being with Detroit bassist Ali Bey (2017)\, and lastly with the Detroit Jazz Festival All-Star Alumini Band (2019). In January 2019 Allen was chosen by the Detroit MetroTimes as one of ten artist they thought would become famous in that year. Soon after that Allen was approached with many interview requests\, one being with Detroit Public Television/ PBS and the other being with Honeysuckle Magazine\, a New York City based magazine company. Aside from that Allen has worked with several artist from the Detroit Music Factory label\, such as Gayelynn McKinney\, De’Sean Jones and Sean Dobbins. He has also worked with Detroit saxophonist David McMurray from the Blue Note record label. Adding to that\, Allen also got the opportunity to share the stage with New York based saxophonist J.D Allen\, who is with HighNote Records. \nIn October 2018 Allen had the opportunity to work with famous R&B artist Ray J\, being a member of the pit orchestra in a play that Ray J was in. In the same year Allen was chosen to be in the horn section for the MC5 reunion in Detroit\, sharing the stage with musical icons such as Wayne Kramer. Following after that Allen went on to record on one of Alice Copper’s latest albums in 2019. Allen is a bandleader and has three of his own groups\, the Allen Dennard Trio\, the Allen Dennard Quartet and the Allen Dennard Quintet.

Nate’s versatile\, but unique style has earned him the opportunity appear on numerous albums.   \nNate’s style is influenced by Jazz\, Blues and his Gospel upbringing\, along with some of his favorite drummers: Brian Blade\, Kendrick Scott\, and Calvin Rodgers. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nNate graduated from Wayne State University and Berklee College of Music with a bachelor’s in music and a master’s in jazz performance\, respectively. Currently\, he spends time traveling the world to spread the message of love and hope through music.

More extensively Taylor’s stint with jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut included a notable concert performance at Kennedy Center recorded for NPR’s Jazzset\, an appearance at the Spoleto Jazz Festival\, and a week-long engagement at Dizzy’s Club in NYC. In addition\, Taylor had the great opportunity to tour internationally with virtuosic saxophonist James Carter’s Quintet\, performing in: Germany\, France\, Italy\, Spain\, Sweden\, Canada\, and Austria. Rounding out the experience\, was a week-long stint at Yoshi’s in California again with the James Carter Quintet. \nIn 2014\, Taylor relocated to southern California where he fostered a musical relationship with friend and mentor Kamau Kenyatta. Kenyatta\, is a Grammy-Award winning producer for Jazz vocal-star Gregory Porter. While building the musical team for Porter’s “Liquid Spirit” album\, he chose Taylor for the trumpet chair. Kenyatta stated that Taylor “graced the session with his elegant solos and precise ensemble playing” and noted his musicianship as “impeccable.” Gregory Porter’s “Liquid Spirit” would go on to receive the Grammy-Award for Best-Jazz vocal album of 2014.

The artist is currently gearing up for her appearance at Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society‘s famed winter jazz series at Half Moon Bay’s Douglas Beach House. \nAfter successful engagements at the 2019 Blue Note at Sea Cruise and Blue Note Beijing\, the Exit Zero Jazz Festival\, and a supporting performance for Gregory Porter in Atlanta\, Detroit Vocalist and ASCAP Award Winning composer Kathy Kosins is thrilled to celebrate the two year-long success that her sixth studio album\, Uncovered Soul has gained across commercial radio.
