DESCRIPTION:James Gaiters\, Jr. began to play drums at the age of four\, influenced by his mother who was a concert pianist and also the church organist for his father who is a pastor. His jazz experience began through his “secret rendezvous” with Stanley Clarke\, the Yellowjackets\, Billy Cobham\, Koinonia\, and Chic Corea. He later discovered the stylings of Wynton Marsalis\, which prompted deeper investigation into the jazz art form. During his youth\, James played in various school and local bands\, studying many styles of music. He then went on to college to study architecture. Musically\, this move proved to be the best move of his swiftly growing career. In late 1994\, James began playing in the Ohio State University Jazz Ensemble\, and later met Edwin Bayard\, a student\, and also tenor saxophone player at Ohio State University. This proved to be the launching pad for one of the greatest musical unions. His first major break onto the circuit was to join up with jazz trumpeter\, and MoJazz recording artist\, Pharez Whitted with who he has toured the country extensively. \nThroughout his powerful and favorably blessed career\, James has appeared with many of the world’s greatest artists. . He has received accolades the world over as he was featured on a world tour with RCA/Victor recording artist D. D. Jackson. James’ powerfully musical voice has also led to nationally and internationally televised features on BET on Jazz (Jazz Central\, Knitt TV)\, BET (Jazz Central)\, a Jazz Documentary in Tokyo\, Japan\, and an educational feature for TV ONTARIO. James has also been featured on some of the world’s most prestigious jazz festivals\, such as\, THE NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL\, OTTOWA JAZZ FESTIVAL\, TORONTO JAZZ FESTIVAL\, DU MARIER MONTREAL JAZZ FESTIVAL\, JVC JAZZ FESTIVAL (SARATOGA)\, BELL ATLANTIC JAZZ FESTIVAL\, INDIANAPOLIS JAZZ FESTIVAL\, DETROIT MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL. As well\, James has been featured with the likes of Frank Foster\, Andrew White\, David Murray\, Donald Walden\, James Carter\, Wessell “Warmdaddy” Anderson\, Tim Warfield\, JD Allen\, Tim Warfield\, Mulgrew Miller\, Terell Stafford\, and Jimmy Smith\, just to name a few. He is winner of several important competitions like Montreux Jazz Competition\, VISA Prize and some others. Diego is presenting now his new concert “ From the Classical to the Jazz”. It is a fusion between Jazz\, Bossa nova and Classical music. Diego has an unique interpretation\, with a lot of technique\, much emotion\, and his show has been a great sucsses about to the audience. \n Diego Figueiredo was born in Franca\, Brazil\, in 1980\, and at the age of 4\, he used to strike poses carrying his small guitar. At six\, he got a mandolin\, which was kept in a very special place in his house. Diego played many instruments before choosing the electric guitar when he was twelve\, playing in theaters and local pubs\, revealing the great art of improvising and harmonizing. At 15\, he conquered theaters and nightclubs in many different Brazilian states\, playing solo or with renowned musicians.

The second show starts seating at 9pm.\nMusicians pay no cover when they bring their instrument. \nMulti-woodwind-instrumentalist and Detroit native Kasan Belgrave holds a unique stance in the city as one of the young torchbearers of the Detroit jazz collective. His father\, the late maestro trumpeter Marcus Belgrave\, laid a foundation for him as he continues to carry on the legacy of Detroit jazz royalty. Following close to his father’s strides\, Kasan takes pride in contributing to Detroit’s rich pedigree of musical mentorship\, as he strives to continue passing down the knowledge and exposure of jazz music to generations after him. \nThe 23-yr-old is a recent graduate of University of Michigan\, and also currently holds a graduate assistantship under bassist Prof. Rodney Whitaker at Michigan State University. Belgrave has shared the stage with many greats such as Nicholas Payton\, Barry Harris\, Benny Green\, Rodney Whitaker\, Theo Crocker\, Robert Hurst\, Karriem Riggins\, Dee Dee Bridgewater\, and the Jazz @ Lincoln Center Orchestra w/ Wynton Marsalis. \nKasan has performed around the globe. He attended a jazz summer clinic that his father ran at the University of California-Berkeley in 2011\, where he met flautist Elena Pinderhughes\, trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire\, and Walter Smith III. He traveled to Barbados in 2013\, along with saxophonist Marcus Elliott and pianist Ian Finkelstein\, where they performed a masterclass and concert sponsored by the U.S. Embassy. He’s performed frequently at the Detroit Jazz Festival\, as a sideman for Wendell Harrison\, Rob Pipho\, Rick Margitza\, Nicholas Payton\, Ali Bey\, Kareem Riggins and the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin in her last ever live Detroit performance at the Music Hall.

Co-produced by André and lauded multi-instrumentalist Carlos Niño\, and featuring the playing of Nate Mercereau\, Surya Botofasina\, Deantoni Parks\, Diego Gaeta\, Matthewdavid\, V.C.R\, Diego Gaeta\, Jesse Peterson\, and Mia Doi Todd\, New Blue Sun is an entirely instrumental album; a celebratory piece of work in the form of a living\, breathing\, improvised\, aural organism. \nThe tour will kick off on January 29 in Brooklyn\, NY followed by a three night residency at the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club in Manhattan\, where André and his collaborators will play two shows per night. They’ll make stops in Detroit\, Chicago\, Atlanta and San Francisco before finishing with a five night stint at The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles. Over the past 20 years De’Sean has toured the world recording or performing with music Icons like Stevie Wonder\, Faith Evans\, along with a host of Detroit Legends; Marcus Belgrave\, The Clark Sisters\, Kierra Sheard and techno pioneer Mad Mike Banks of Underground Resistance. \nAs a bandleader & producer Jones has curated an eclectic approach that is widely viewed as progressive and undeniably rooted in the rich history of black culture.
