The goal is to create music based on human experience. It is also to absorb as much music as possible to develop through the lens of Humanism based on the philosophies of Nichiren Buddhism. Ultimately\, Zadravec strives to create music that inspires\, encourages\, and touches people’s hearts. \nZadravec is a musical chameleon. Whether it is jazz\, R&B\, funk\, rock\, or pop\, he plays each with a freshness and confidence rarely found in someone so young. Born in Winnipeg\, Canada\, in 1974\, Zadravec studied classical piano from the age of five. At eleven\, he began studying the saxophone and the flute. Hearing Miles Davis transformed his life and influenced his decision to become a jazz musician. In 1992\, Zadravec attended York University’s Jazz Program\, and in 1997 he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. During his time at York\, Zadravec was also the recipient of two Oscar Peterson Awards for excellence as a jazz pianist. In 2000\, he earned a Graduate’s Degree in Jazz Performance at Rutgers University. \nZadravec also has studied with some of the biggest names in jazz\, such as Kenny Barron\, Don Thompson\, John Gittens\, Vic Juris\, Ted Dunbar\, and Ralph Bowen. A natural innovator and leader\, he runs two of his own bands: the Zen Zadravec Quartet and his fusion group Human Revolution. Zadravec has also performed or recorded with: Ron Carter\, Louis Hayes\, Karriem Riggins\, Ali Jackson\, Mike Pope\, Mark Whitfield Jr.\, Bijon Watson\, Mark Gross\, Derrick Gardner\, Vincent Gardner\, Todd Bashore\, Kenny Davis\, Steve Turre\, Ralph Bowen\, Sean Jones\, Conrad Herwig\, Freddie Hendrix\, Don Thompson\, Lorne Lofsky\, Charles Fambrough\, Valery Ponomarev\, Dave Watson\, Darryl Dixon\, Gloria Gaynor\, Joan Rivers\, Bob Newhart\, Sally Kellerman\, among others. \nVersatile\, creative\, energetic\, and dynamic\, Zadravec is continuously experimenting and refining his sound and musical conception through concerts\, recordings\, and education. His music is always exploring beautiful melodies\, interesting chord progressions\, and rhythmic diversity. Zadravec’s latest CD release titled Human Revolution is a musical work supported by the Canadian Grant Organization called Factor or (The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings).

DESCRIPTION:Showtimes are at 7:30p & 9:30p for this performance. \n(Doors open at 5pm for dinner/Seating begins at 6:15p for the first show & 9:00p for the second show) ******************************************************************************************* \nMichael Palazzolo\, bass\,  from Windsor\, Ontario\, Canada brings a sense of melody and groove far beyond his years.  Being from the border city\, Detroit holds a significant and special place in his life musically.  A 2013 graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in Jazz Studies\, Palazzolo first came to Bob James’ attention in 2016 through guitarist Perry Hughes.  Upon seeing the bassist again a year later\, “I immediately noticed how much he had progressed and how seriously he was taking his instrument\,” Bob recalled.  In the 2018 session together for the recording of Espresso\, James felt Palazzolo was more than holding his own alongside more experienced collaborators. “He’s challenged me more than I’ve challenged him\,” James said.  Michael was also featured on his album and dvd that followed titled “Feel Like Making LIVE!”.  \nMichael currently teaches Jazz/pop bass at the University of Windsor and is active on the detroit scene when not touring with Bob James. \nMichael has two original ballad-like songs released that feature Bob James titled “Abbey” and “Follery Returns From Time\, Dreams Remembered”.

While in High School\, Vincent worked with a local Blues and Salsa Band of which flourished into work with Detroit’s local and international heroes\, including Kenn Cox\, Donald Walden\, Harold McKinney\, Wendell Harrison\, Marcus Belgrave\, Rodney Whitaker\, Regina Carter\, Marion Hayden\, Robert Hurst and James Carter. Vincent has performed nationally with Roy Hargrove\, Joe Henderson\, Stefon Harris\, J@LC feat.Wynton Marsalis\, Geri Allen\, JD Allen\, The Oliver Lake Big Band and The Ambrose Akinmusire Big Band. He was a featured artist on the 2009 Playboy Jazz Festival\, where he performed with Marcus Miller\, Herbie Hancock and Keb’ Mo. He was a featured soloist on Roy Hargrove’s only Big Band CD\, called “Emergence.” \nHe earned his Undergraduate and Graduate degree from the University of Michigan. He has been teaching\, performing\, and recording in the Southeast Michigan area since 1996. Over the years he has been a founding member of various jazz oriented groups including the Ann Arbor Guitar Trio\, Nomad\, Giraffe\, and Never Nebula. Since 2018 he has played with Gayelynn McKinney’s in her McKinney Zone project\, which won a Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Jazz Recording. Alex has studied with Miles Okazaki\, Chris Buzzelli\, Benny Green\, Mark Kirschenmann\, and Ellen Rowe. He has also appeared on over 30 albums\, mostly recorded in Michigan. This second iteration of his organ trio features world class drummer Gayelynn McKinney\, as well as renowned organist Jim Alfredson.\n\nThe Alex Anest Organ Trio is dedicated to finding exciting repertoire for the organ based group. Original tunes as well as works by the likes of Duke Pearson\, Emily Remler\, Ernie Krivda\, and Herbie Hancock have found their way into the set list. The focus is on working together and connecting with the audience through improvisation\, groove\, and feel. Music should be fun to listen to as well as to play\, and this trio is all about enjoying the music. This is a relatively new group made up of seasoned players.  \nOne of Detroit’s most accomplished drummers\, Gayelynn McKinney has played for renowned international artists like Aretha Franklin\, Freda Payne\, Chaka Khan\,Benny Golson\, Roy Hargrave\, Larry Coryell\, Marcus Belgrave\, Ralphe Armstrong\, Roy Ayers\, and Geri Allen. She is the recipient of a Kresge Arts Fellowship\, a Motor City Music Award and a Detroit Black Music Award. She has performed at the 1996 Olympic Games and at the prestigious Kennedy Center for The Performing Arts\, and she has entertained the armed forces in Germany and Italy – and via live broadcast to military bases in Afghanistan. Add a Grammy Nomination to her resume and you quickly realize what an exceptional musician Gayelynn is. \nJim Alfredson comes from a musical family. His father earned a living as a professional musician for many years and encouraged Jim’s talents from a very young age. \nJim began writing his own songs at the age of eight on a Yamaha organ. A score of synthesizers and multitrack machines followed until he came full circle at sixteen and began lusting after the sound of the Hammond organ once again. Jim has immersed himself in the study of the mighty Hammond B3 ever since\, dedicated to uncovering new directions within the deep tradition of the instrument.
