The second show starts seating at 9pm.\nAndrew Brown is a young up-and-coming musician\, producer\, educator\, and artist from Dearborn\, Michigan. A recent graduate of the jazz program at Michigan State University\, where he studied trumpet\, he currently teaches K–8 general music at a Lansing charter school during the day while performing and creating music at night. At just 22 years old\, Andrew has already played with and studied under many of the leading musicians in the Detroit\, national\, and international jazz scenes. His music reflects influences from a wide range of genres\, with the goal of ultimately bringing people together.\n\n  In 2022\, Andrew released his self-produced debut album Lovely\, a pop-driven exploration of heartbreak. The record featured many of his colleagues and peers from Michigan State University and received positive reviews from publications such as the Dearborn Free Press. Since then\, Andrew has released a number of singles and collaborations while completing his degree\, and now that he has graduated\, his next major project is currently in development and scheduled to be released later this year.\n\n  In addition to his work in music production\, Andrew is an active jazz trumpet performer. He has performed at notable venues in Detroit\, Tokyo\, and even at Lincoln Center in New York City. While at Michigan State\, he studied under Anthony Stanco and Rodney Whitaker and has also learned from Detroit jazz mainstays including Kris Johnson\, Vincent Chandler\, Scott Gwinell\, Marcus Elliot\, and Rayse Biggs. Through MSU’s jazz program\, Andrew has had the opportunity to perform and tour with renowned artists such as Renee Rosnes\, Jazzmeia Horn\, Stefon Harris\, Marquis Hill\, Geoffrey Keezer\, Carmen Bradford\, Camille Thurman\, Ryan Keberle\, Randy Napoleon\, Michael Dease\, Walter Blanding\, and other members of the university’s acclaimed faculty. A finalist for both the 2025 National Trumpet Competition and the International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition\, Andrew is beginning to see his dedication pay off as his professional career continues to take shape.

The second show starts seating at 7pm.\nLead by acclaimed saxophonist\, composer\, and arranger JOSHUA JAMES\, the CBBB is the house big band for Detroit’s historic Cliff Bells jazz club. Compiled from a rotating roster of professionals and professors from across the state\, this ensemble boasts some of the hottest musicians active on both the local and national jazz\, hip-hop\,\nLatin\, world\, rock\, electronic\, and avant garde music scenes. \nThe Cliff Bells Big Band seeks to highlight the dynamic relationship between the improvisational performer (soloist) and the composer\, presenting historic and contemporary compositions steeped in a rich tradition of thoughtfully crafted music for swingin’—and burnin’!— musicians. Past programs include the music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s Nutcracker Suite\, along with an in depth retrospective on the music of Sun Ra. For this program the CBBB will tackle the music of the Radiohead as viewed through the lens of the Radiohead Jazz Project\, a series of arrangements commissioned and coordinated by noted arrangers BOB CURNOW and FRED STURM. Each arrangement draws from the rich breadth of Radiohead’s oeuvre\, from OK Computer to Kid A to In Rainbows and beyond. Each arrangement stays true to the art-rock aesthetic of the band while expanding the sonic palette into the world of the jazz big band. Like the compositions and arrangements from such masters of large-ensemble writing like Duke Ellington\, Billy Strayhorn\, Charles Mingus\, Oliver Nelson\, Stan Kenton\, these works will push the boundaries—and audience expectations—of how a jazz big band can sound.

His energetic playing style and improvisational finesse derives from influences of early bebop and jazz\, as well flares of fusion and gospel. His musical prowess has more recently been shown through new innovative compositions. \nThe record “Dual Citizen” is an introductory reflection of Kasan’s own consciousness through experience of musical nurturing & professional practice from the Detroit jazz mentorship empire\, led by his father\, trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. It provides a glimpse of Kasan’s endless curiousness of sonic ingenuity. \nIn the formative years of his career\, that same mentorship was present in the musical institutions\, as he studied with Andrew Bishop\, Benny Green\, and Robert Hurst at the University of Michigan then held an assistantship under the direction of Diego Rivera and Rodney Whitaker at Michigan State University. \nKasan has toured as a multi-woodwind instrumentalist with Jazz @ Lincoln Center w/ Wynton Marsalis\, performed in multiple residencies curated by Terri Lynn Carrington\, performed with Karriem Riggins\, and Etienne Charles. The 27-year-old multi-woodwind instrumentalist has also made rounds performing in every corner of the Detroit music scene\, immersing himself in Latin\, R&B\, and techno. \nBelgrave is just one of many who was nurtured in the realm. The lineup for “Dual Citizen” might be the most outright product of that very circle of mentorship. Bassist Jonathan Muir-Cotton\, finishing his degree at MSU\, is currently rotating in Christian Sands Trio; Louis Jones aka “WavyLou”\, a gun-slinging drummer who has the likes of the Haynes’ and Roach’s\, recently hit with ELEW and Johnny O’Neal in Detroit; Brendon Davis\, a virtuosic voice on piano shortly studying with the great Chick Corea\, is established in composition and arranging of the gospel scene ; the enigmatic Allen Dennard has a trailblazing trumpet sound\, recently sharing stages with Dwele and Mike Phillips; and Michael Abbo\, the genial menace on both trombone and bass\, recently played with Johnny Oneal and Dafnis Prieto. The close fellowship of this group is a sentiment to the power of their sound as the Kasan Belgrave Sextet.

Her velvety yet powerful voice\, reminiscent of Billy Holiday yet with her own modern sound developed from Motown influences. Nicole’s eclectic style of singing\, drawing from her early influences of performing Jazz\, Pop\, Opera and musical theatre has transformed into a sound all her own. Nicole New studied Classical voice\, but quickly fell in love with jazz and began a career exploring these sounds creating new arrangements to standards of the Great American Song Book. She continues to work with musicians across the U.S to create new and interesting projects spanning all genres and will be releasing an album this Spring. Nicole continues to make a lasting impression\, wowing fans with her rich tone and rhythmic phrasing\, venues such as\, Cliff Bells\, Steinway Jazz Café\, Midland Symphony\, and most recently the Jackson Symphony Orchestra have become a welcoming venue for this dynamic performer. The second show starts seating at 7pm.\nWilliam Hill III is a pianist\, composer\, arranger\, and bandleader based in New York City hailing from Detroit\, Michigan. Hill is a graduate of the Detroit School of Arts (Class of 2022) and a recent graduate of Manhattan School of Music with a bachelor of music degree (Class of 2026). He will continue his education in the fall as a graduate student at The Juilliard School (Class of 2028). \nHill has had the opportunity to participate in many summer extensive jazz camps such as Jazz House Kids\, Jr. Jazz Academy at Lincoln Center\, Berklee Summer Programs\, Interlochen Center for the Arts\, Motown Lyric Project\, Keeping an Eye Summer Jazz Workshop located at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam\, Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead\, and many others. \nHill is honored to receive awards from programs such as the National YoungArts Foundation\, a multi-year winner in the instrumental contemporary category for the NAACP ACT-SO National Competition\, and the West Virginia Univeristy International Jazz Piano Competition. Musicians that Hill has worked alongside and have been mentored by include Marc Cary\, Aaron Parks\, Buster Williams\, Christian McBride\, Jaleel Shaw\, Jazzmeia Horn\, Joe Farnsworth\, Ari Hoenig\, Jason Moran\, Rodney Whitaker\, Wynton Marsalis\, and many more. \nHill has had the opportunity to perform at the 46th Annual Detroit Jazz Festival\, 2026 Jazz Congress\, Unity Jazz Festival\, Winter Jazz Festival\, Dizzy’s Club\, Smalls Jazz Club\, Mezzrow Jazz Club\,Minton’s Playhouse\, The Kennedy Center\, Esplanade-Theaters on the B ay (Singapore)\, Blue Note Tokyo\, and many others to name a few. The second show starts seating at 9pm\nSaxophonist Kasan Belgrave is a ascending talent newly emerging in the role of a compositional leader. His energetic playing style and improvisational finesse derives from influences of early bebop and jazz\, as well flares of fusion and gospel. His musical prowess has more recently been shown through new innovative compositions. \nThe record “Dual Citizen” is an introductory reflection of Kasan’s own consciousness through experience of musical nurturing & professional practice from the Detroit jazz mentorship empire\, led by his father\, trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. It provides a glimpse of Kasan’s endless curiousness of sonic ingenuity. \nIn the formative years of his career\, that same mentorship was present in the musical institutions\, as he studied with Andrew Bishop\, Benny Green\, and Robert Hurst at the University of Michigan then held an assistantship under the direction of Diego Rivera and Rodney Whitaker at Michigan State University. \nKasan has toured as a multi-woodwind instrumentalist with Jazz @ Lincoln Center w/ Wynton Marsalis\, performed in multiple residencies curated by Terri Lynn Carrington\, performed with Karriem Riggins\, and Etienne Charles. The 27-year-old multi-woodwind instrumentalist has also made rounds performing in every corner of the Detroit music scene\, immersing himself in Latin\, R&B\, and techno. \nBelgrave is just one of many who was nurtured in the realm. The lineup for “Dual Citizen” might be the most outright product of that very circle of mentorship. DESCRIPTION:Tickets Available September 10th. \nKnown as one of Jazz’s most vibrant emerging artists\, Endea Owens is a Detroit-raised Recording Artist\, Bassist\, and Composer. She has been mentored by Jazz Icons the likes of\nMarcus Belgrave\, Rodney Whitaker\, and Ron Carter. She has toured and performed with Wynton Marsalis\, Jennifer Holliday\, Diana Ross\, Rhonda Ross\, Solange\, Jon Batiste\, Jazzmeia Horn\, Dee Dee Bridgewater\, and Cyrus Chestnut to name a few. In 2018\, Endea graduated from The Juilliard School\, and joined the Late Show with Stephen Colbertas a member of the house band\, Stay Human. Since then\, Endea has won an Emmy\, Grammy Award\, and a George Foster Peabody Award. Endea’s work has appeared on Jon Batiste’s Grammy Award-winning album “We Are”\, Oscar nominated film Judas and the Black Messiah\,and H.E.R’s widely acclaimed Super Bowl LV performance. Endea has a true passion for philanthropy and teaching. She has taught students across the United States\, South America\, and Europe. In 2020\, Endea founded The Community Cookout\, a non-profit organization birthed out of the Covid-19 pandemic that provides meals and music to underserved neighborhoods worldwide. To date\, Endea’s organization has helped feed over\n6\,000 people. \nIn 2022\, Endea composed an original piece about the life of Ida B. Wells entitled “Ida’s Crusade” for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and was also performed by the NYO Carnegie Hall Orchestra. Endea has written for brands such as Pyer Moss and Glossier. Endea also premiered a newly commissioned work with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra as the2023 MAC Music Innovator with the organization. In addition to her work with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra\, Endea is the curator for the National Arts Club and also a fellow for “Jazz is Now!” with the National Jazz Museum in Harlem\, where she presents original compositions\, curates series\, and headlines performances for the 2022-2023 season. Endea’s debut album “Feel Good Music” has recently been released this past September.
