Grammy-nominated trumpeter, composer, and educator John Raymond is “steering jazz in the right direction” (Downbeat). He has released eight albums under his own name, each to critical acclaim from the New York Times, Downbeat, Jazz Times, and more. He has also performed with jazz luminaries such as Billy Hart, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Orrin Evans, Linda May Han Oh, Gilad Hekselman, and Cory Wong, and has also recorded with artists including Sara Bareilles, S. Carey, Darnell Davis, and Sandra McCracken. Raymond has also established himself as a sought-after educator, both as the Professor of Jazz Trumpet at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and as a guest clinician and soloist at schools around the world.

In 2020, Raymond created the podcast “The Trumpet Summit” where he talks shop with other master jazz trumpet players including Tom Harrell, Sean Jones, Ingrid Jensen, and the Snarky Puppy Trumpets among others. He has now taken this idea on the road, presenting a series of performances across the country and inviting some of the most respected, local trumpet players (as well as up-and-comers) to join him as guests. “The Trumpet Summit” celebrates the global jazz trumpet community by paying homage to the masters of the music, recognizing present-day legends, and paving the way for generations of jazz trumpet players to come.
