The Bobby Muncy Quartet

Saxophonist and Composer, Bobby Muncy has been called “an adventurous local tenor saxophone player” by The Washington Post. The DCist writes that his “eclecticism is reflected in Muncy’s writing…reveal a broad range of influences, from John Coltrane to Radiohead.” Mike West of the Washington City Paper describes his writing as “equal parts Hoagy Carmichael and Hector Berlioz” and writes of his playing, “the momentum that Muncy was able to build on each instrument, winding into long, powerful lines that could startle in their heft or melodic charm.” Bobby is originally from Miami, FL, has lived in Washington, DC for the last 15 years and is now a resident of Ann Arbor, MI.

Bobby has had the privlege to perform with The Temptations, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Platters, The Drifters, The Spinners, Joe Piscopo, Nestor Torres, Bobby Parker, Tabou Combo, D’Zine, Wayna, The El Reys, Allyn Johnson, Anthony Pirog, Thad Wilson Big Band, Bohemian Cavern Jazz Orchestra, Brian Settles, Reginald Cyntje, Lyle Link, Lena Seikaly, The Funk Ark, Dog Fashion Disco, JS Williams, John Lee, Chick Hall, The Paul Keller Orchestra, The Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra, Mike Jellick and many others.

Bobby Muncy received his bachelors degree in jazz studies from Florida State University in 2001, his masters degree in jazz saxophone performance from The University of Maryland in 2004
