Todd Clouser’s A Love Electric

Saturday, February 17, 2018 @ 9:30 pm

Todd Clouser w. Hernan Hecht and Galen Clark
US TOUR 2018 in support of Clouser/Medeski/Bates Live at Icehouse, on Ropeadope Records
dance rock for the brave, from Mexico City

Todd Clouser takes a trio out behind the dance-rock Ropeadope records release “Clouser, Medeski, Bates : You The Brave, Live at Icehouse”. A “blistering” (Prague Times) guitarist and songwriter, Clouser is an artist constantly on the move, performing over 700 shows in 6 years on 4 continents with his group A Love Electric and alongside artists from John Medeski to Arto Lindsay, Keb Mo, Cyro Baptista.
Clouser’s music follows the lineage of 70’s rock heroics, songcraft, and more adventurous improvised musics.  “Todd Clouser doesn’t fit into any scene, and doesn’t want to” says NPR in describing the aesthetic of the prolific guitarist, vocalist and writer. Minneapolis native, NYC “downtown scene” schooled, Clouser currently resides in Mexico City. Clouser offered a trilogy of records on Brooklyn label Royal Potato Family between February 2012 and 2013, earning praise from critics of jazz and rock alike, while working tirelessly as a published poet, writer of short fiction and community philanthropist in Mexico. “Blistering” says the Prague Post on Clouser, while NPR goes on to call him “fascinating …. ultimately illuminating”, with the Phildaelphia Inquirer pointing to Todd as “A Gem, Clouser spices the All American vibe of Bill Frisell with some Jimi Hendrix fire.”
Clouser is also the label director of Ropeadope Sur Records and co-editor of the book “Musicians in Mexico City”.

On drums for the tour is Hernan Hecht, a native of Argentina and Mexico City resident, collaborator of many of the world’s leading jazz and creative music voices, and, though he will be the last to tell you, a Latin Grammy winner.
