]]> Talking Ear is a four-piece progressive music ensemble based out of the Midwest, committed to providing a unique experience for listeners through composition, collaboration, and improvisation. The band consists of guitarist Daniel Palmer, pianist Benjamin Maloney, bassist Aidan Cafferty, and drummer Travis Aukerman. Each musician has a distinct voice as an accomplished composer and performer, contributing to an exciting and versatile, yet particularly cohesive sound.

]]> WHFR programs ALTERNATIVE VARIETY, music little heard elsewhere on Detroit area radio stations, almost 40% of which is Classical but also featuring: Alternative/Modern Rock, Big Band, Country, Americana/Folk, Blues, Hip Hop, Jazz, Space Rock, Urban, and World music, in addition to a weekly public affairs show. All music shows highlight, as much as possible: new releases, independent labels, and local artists. Through a satellite-delivered service, we provide 60-plus hours/week of classical music from PRI (Public Radio International).

Some of Detroit’s most cutting edge musicians and composers come together to support the station that consistently supports them and their music.

]]> Tristan Cappel, local multi-instrumentalist & composer and student of Benny Green, Miles Okazaki, & Lee Konitz, will be joined by Peter Formanek, Jordan Anderson, Michael Perlman, & Everett Reid. The band formed in 2016, and released an album early 2017. The Tristan Cappel Quintet will be performing sets of original music and standards.
