]]> The Ryan Bills Quartet is a group of Wayne State students and alumni dedicated to providing a sophisticated yet enjoyable interpretation of the swing tradition. Emphasis is placed on group communication within individual improvisation, following in the tradition set by the greats such as Lester Young, Sonny Rollins, etc. into a more modern treatment by groups led by Joshua Redman and Joe Lovano. The Quartet aims to reassert the accessibility of swing while never losing sight of the convictions that make modern jazz something to celebrate.
