“Full of inventiveness and a sense of adventure, creativeness and voracious angularity, aggressiveness and jaggedness, passion, and swing. There are so many great and exciting moments to be found here.” -Stephen Scott
The Keigo Hirakawa Trio is a hard hitting, hard swinging jazz piano trio. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Hirakawa has appeared on stages with Donald Byrd, JD Allen, Bob Moses, Allen Vizzutti, Greg Abate, Eddie Bayard, and Richie Barshay. Joining Hirakawa is a veteran bassist Eddie Brookshire, who played alongside Elvin Jones, Donald Byrd, Rusty Bryant, Johnny Lytle, and Fathead Newman, and Fenton Sparks, a longtime drummer for Bill Cunliffe. In the liner notes to the trio’s 2015 album “And Then There Were Three,” jazz pianist Stephen Scott writes, “Full of inventiveness and a sense of adventure, creativeness and voracious angularity, aggressiveness and jaggedness, passion, and swing. There are so many great and exciting moments to be found here.”
