Detroit Riddim Crew play original Jamaican in5luenced reggae, ska, and dub music. Recording at Castle Hooligan and performing for over 5 years, the band features musicians gathered to perform original and foundational tunes from Jamaica. The group has won a Detroit Music Award for Outstanding World Recoding and has been shortlisted for a Grammy Award for their latest release entitled “Detroit Riddim Crew meets Crazy Baldhead: Instru-Mental.” Previous releases found the group on singles for various artists around the world, including a 45 rpm recorded in Jamaica. Their 5irst full length “Detroit Riddim Crew and Friends” was partially recorded in Kingston, JA at Anchor Studios and featured Flabba Holt on bass, Steve Golding on Guitar, and Kirk Bennet on Drums. The focus on the group relies on the vibe and groove of the original music created in Jamaica with a Detroit feel.
