Miles Brown‘s Middle Game, consists of Andrew Bishop on saxophone, Kris Johnson on trumpet, Mike Jellick on piano, Jesse Kramer on drums and myself on bass. The name refers to my other passion besides music, chess. The middle game is the part of a chess game that invokes the spirit of improvisation, creativity within a given set of parameters, shifts in energy and momentum, and aesthetic beauty. I’m hoping that these values will inspire the music this bands creates. All the music will be original and/or freely improvised. We’ll play mainly my own compositions, but also tunes from the other band members.
