Wayne State University’s long history of producing world class musicians is one of the great attributes for the City of Detroit. Hosted by Professor Chris Collins, the WSU Director of Jazz Studies, the WSU open jam starts out with a rotating blend of professors performing a energetic set of “hard bop” with their students. As the night moves on, the impressively capable students take over to lead the open jam session. Instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome to sit in.
