Jordan Anderson is a multifaceted pianist, keyboardist, organist and composer. Born in Minneapolis, he developed a love for music at an early age and took up the piano at age 7. As an early teenager, his fascination for jazz and other Black American Music blossomed from the mentorship acquired through his attendance at Walker West Music Academy, in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he studied with Solomon Parham (former student of Marcus Belgrave) and Kevin Washington (son of Donald Washington). Jordan was later awarded his BFA in Jazz Studies at University of Michigan in Spring 2020, where he had the privilege of studying under Benny Green, Andy Milne, and Bob Hurst. Last spring he received his Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at Michigan State University studying with jazz veteran Xavier Davis. Jordan has performed with some of Detroit Metro’s finest musicians, such as Vincent Chandler, Leonard King, Desean Jones, Diego Rivera, Robert Hurst, Rodney Whitaker, and Andrew Bishop. He is currently a member of the Vincent Chandler Collective, BIG FELLAS (a firebrand quintet led by Russ Macklem), the Allen Dennard Quintet and continues to collaborate with a vast array of local artist as one of the most in-demand keyboardists in Detroit. Jordan’s sound is characterized by his touch – capable of swaying audiences with tender emotion and shaking a room with relentless toe-tapping groove.
