Winner of 5 Detroit Music Awards as a bandleader and instrumentalist, Flute/Sax/Vocalist Paul VornHagen has been a mainstay on the Michigan jazz scene for over 30 years performing at all the major jazz festivals and nightclubs. His numerous recordings on PKO Records have been featured on many NPR programs including the top syndicated show, Jazz After Hours. The 2016 release, Trust Your Heart, was chosen for the top “Sweet 16” recordings of the year by WEMU-FM. Paul’s warm and dynamic sound has been compared to Dexter Gordon (tenor sax), Yusef Lateef (flute) and Chet Baker (vocals). Expect a seamless blend of bebop, swing, mambo, cha cha and bossa nova beats with jazz standards and original compositions. Joining him on the stage will be an all-star combo of Gary Schunk (piano), Kurt Krahnke (bass) and Scott Kretzer (drums).
